For the past two weeks, a lot has been happening in the entertainment circles especially since the 'Respect Ibadan Content' movement began.
Before people jump to conclusions, thinking that the movement is a group of entertainment stakeholders forming a caucus so as to rival or cause problems for events organisers from outside Oyo State, it is important to address the numerous rumours flying around.
First and foremost, 'Respect Ibadan Content' is not out to go against any event, show promoter, or the tool of any body. What the movement was formed for was to unite the numerous entertainment stakeholders in the state and profer solutions as to how indigenous content (Djs, OAPs, media people, artistes, ushers, printers, photograhers, stylists etc) could be included in the big events which are brought into the state. This, we believe, would help the entertainment stakeholders in the state grow and learn how the entertainment business is done from their other counterparts.
Secondly, the movement is to raise awareness to the vast array of quality content present in the state. The artistes, DJs, music producers, media people are as good as any other in Nigeria and deserve better involvement and participation especially in events which are brought into the state where the state residents are expected to pay to witness. Also, the scenario where no Ibadan act would be a part the so-called big shows in Ibadan is saddening and should stop.
Thirdly, the association being formed is done for the progress of every stakeholder. This will enable us be able to reach out to everyone so they can take us a bit more seriously. Feedback from the residents across the state and from official sources show that our cause enjoys massive acceptance and it is only a matter of time before Nigerians at large take notice.
So therefore, we urge anyone who has no selfish interests to support the movement and help the state's enormous talent grow!
We are NOT against anybody or organisation coming to stage shows in Ibadan!
All we want is better involvement so our talents can learn and GROW!
Even Wizkid, Sasha, Sean Tizzle, Skuki, El Phlex, Mike Adenuga and scores of others started from IBADAN!
We want to be united!
We want to move forward!
We will be successful!
Join the movement!
Support and promote Ibadan content!
God bless Oyo State!
God bless Nigeria!
